It Is Over!

"Where's Daddy?"
"He's at work."
"Why is Daddy always at work?"
Sigh...

Jeff has a pretty great schedule most of the year. He gets to see the kids in the morning for a few minutes before leaving for work and is almost always home in time for dinner and nighttime activities. There are a few months out of the year however where he is only a visitor in the house. He leaves long before we are even considering getting up for the day and is home after the kids go to bed. Tax season, or as we call it "Busy Season" is not our favorite time of the year.
Most years the kids didn't notice too much that Dad wasn't home like usual. This year they woke asking for him and would get upset when we would eat dinner without him. I tried not to tell Jeff about it because I did not want him to feel bad. We are blessed with his relaxed schedule the rest of the year, so we can suck it up for a few months and endure him being less than visible.
His firm is incredible when it comes to family. They expect their employees to take Sunday off. I don't know how I would handle 3 months of him working 7 days a week. Even though 1 day is barely enough, it is a wonderful treat.
Today as you know is April 16! So hopefully you have filed your taxes or an extension. If not please don't call my husband as I will not be letting him answer any work related phone calls for the next few days. We are on the road today. Taking our usual 4 or 5 day trip to reconnect and recoup after such craziness. This year we are not going to Brian Head, UT. Instead we are driving to Brawley, CA in the new motor home aptly named the Dream Coach by Pipa. Sam and Toby have named it the Beast! I love their name better as it is a massive machine. Jeff is excited to be getting away and other than helping a friend with some IRS stuff this weekend, he will be relaxing.
We brought Jessie along with us. She has such a flexible schedule being self schooled that she is able to join us on weekday trips. The boys love having her along, as do we. She and Jeff are going to work on her driving this weekend, so she can get ready to take her driving test. I brought along some Trivial Pursuit question cards for us to challenge Jeff. Of course he will know most of the answers, but that is what makes it so fun - sitting in awe of his genius!
We haven't made it very far in 2 hours! After leaving the house we realized we needed a key for the Rhino (4 seat off road vehicle) and met Pipa in Boulder City to get the key and fuel. Now we are at the truck school while the men pull out the sun shade, empty and refill water tanks and do whatever else they feel they need to. It makes me giggle, and I am glad we have zero time restraints. No stress today!
We are rolling! Excellent!
