Singing for Dessert

Thursdays are good for lots of reasons. Mainly because it is MY night with the boys. Jeff has rehearsal and gets home way past the 8 p.m. bedtime.
Today/tonight was great!
Home from school and straight into the backyard to bounce on the trampoline and enjoy the mild winter day and sunshine! The boys wrestled, goofed and shared some Honey Nut Cheerios. I took pictures and enjoyed them.

Homework went smooth - what a relief that is because on Wednesday afternoons I am sure I would growl at their teachers if I saw them. (We have church right after school on Wednesdays, and that makes grumpy bears come homework time.)
They played. I read.
For dinner we made some homemade mini pop tarts- cinnamon sugar flavored, eggs and sausage. Yep breakfast for dinner - who doesn't love that?
Then we watched a cool Scooby Doo we hadn't seen. Which believe me is getting to be a pretty hard feat.

Once dessert time came we spent the next half hour singing everything we needed to communicate in a very stage musical way. Rhyming became a must and the silly verses had us giggling until we cried. We sang about jammies, dessert, hot lunch menu, what to pack in lunches, lost library books, candy and so on. Then came the dancing and twirling along with the singing. Even brushing our teeth and saying our prayers was done musically. The boys had the biggest smiles and twinkle in their eyes. I may have had the same!
Finally, the end of our silly came as we snuggled in for sleep. Thursday is my night to snuggle with them until they fall asleep. It didn't take long.
