Goodbye Kinder and Hello First Grade
This year we have separate classrooms. Toby is in Mr. Martinelli’s class and Sam in Mrs. Mueller’s. The classrooms are one room apart and completely different. Sam’s teacher is quiet and her classroom is just the same. Toby’s teacher used to teach 2nd grade and he pushes the kids pretty hard. Mom has been helping out several times a week in Toby’s classroom and is the room parent and Sight Word Soldier mom for Sam’s class. We like having her there and she likes being where we are.
So far this year we have mastered 100 new to us words each which means we can read over 300 of the most commonly used words. We were given dog tags that say “Word Whiz” and are working towards a second dog tag. Sam is reading at a 2nd grade level and Toby is close behind him. Sam was awarded with the Mustang Kid of the Month and Toby was Student of the Week. Our report cards were awesome. All A’s for Toby and all A’s and one B for Sam.
We love taking our lunch to school and have a few favorites in the hot lunch selections throughout the month (chicken nuggets, pizza, nachos.) Recess is of course the best part of school.
