Doctor Doctor Give Me the News!

Toby the Sick went to the doctor. Sam the Wheezy went too!

1st Toby - It turns out that he only has a bad, bad cold. Dr. Jim tested him for the flu, which freaked Toby out. Maybe it was the GIANT cotton swab they poked into his nose, or maybe it was just the GIANT cotton swab they shoved into his nose. It really wasn't all that bad, but to hear Toby's take on it - it was very painful and he doesn't ever want to do that again. He does not have the flu, so we are just taking it day by day. Doctor's orders - fluids, rest, control his fever, breathing treatments and making sure he is getting better by next week. We went by the store to get some things and both boys picked out a kid TV dinner. Toby was super happy to have chicken nuggets in the shape of Spongebob Squarepants. It is the small things in childhood that sometimes make them the happiest. Of course he is eating now instead of for dinner.

2nd Sam - Sam tried to go into a different medical office because he said the one with the rainbow is where they give shots (our pediatrician) and he WAS NOT GETTING A SHOT. With some convincing that this visit had no shots involved, both boys willingly entered the pediatrician office. Sam is not sick like Toby, instead he has been suffering from asthma like symptoms for the past 2 months. Whenever he gets physically active he can't breathe. We treat him with a nebulizer with some Albuterol to get him breathing smoothly again, but it is no fun to always have to stop playing or not get to play because of breathing problems. Dr. Jim looked him over, listened to his lungs which sound great, and decided that he would need to see a specialist. We will be making an appointment with an Allergist/Asthma doctor for a few weeks from now. Hopefully Sam doesn't have Asthma, and that the new doctor will keep his shots to a minimum.

Sick kids stink. And I am praying SO hard that Sam doesn't have asthma. It sucks as a kid to have it. All the fun activities are no longer fun because you can't breathe easy when you do them.
